... let me tell you about myself and Tyler Art School!

About Linda Wheat

Interrupting a successful career as an artist in the New Orleans area, Hurricane Katrina landed me in Tyler so I could be near my grandkids!  Friendly, beautiful Tyler

After 10 years teaching Middle and Upper School Art at All Saints Episcopal School here in Tyler, I retired, but not really... ;) Teaching art is so fulfilling, I opened Tyler Art School.  Here, at my home

(3615 Woodbine Blvd.) I've created a bright, sunny & spacious teaching studio for small classes.

I care about my students & we get to know each other well!

About Co-teachers Lorianne and Chelsea

Lorianne Hubbard,MFA has had a passion for drawing her whole life. She teaches drawing lessons at both UT and TJC.  Lorianne is also a musician (performing locally, with her sister) and a devoted auntie.

Chelsea Bretherick, BFA studied in Florence, Italy and is a fine arts graduate of UTTyler. Her art focus is printmaking. Chelsea is an avid animal lover and shares a studio with Lorianne.

About Art-cats Yeti and SweetPea

Rescued during Covid, I met these Siamese siblings teaching art online. They were 2 tiny blue-eyed white fluff balls and my Covid silver lining! Yeti & SweetPea are very involved in the goings on in the art

classroom!

About Tyler Art School:

  • School-year semester art lessons for students age 9 and older begin in September with a second semester starting in January.  Homeschool classes are ages 6 and up.  The classes focus, in a relaxed way, on developing essential foundational skills in drawing, painting, collage, and printmaking (with an occasional 3-D project). Lessons are based on the Elements of Art & the Principles of Design and contain meaningful references to Art History.                              Registration for classes opens July 15 for Fall and November 15 for Spring.  With registration questions, please contact lwheat@tylerartschool.com

  • Summer art camps for kiddos are are a week pure fun & lots of artsy-crafty projects June-mid August! Most camps are for ages 6 and up... however there are 2 camps for ages 4.5-7 and the back-to-school "Mother's Relief" camp in August for 5 and up.  A sculpture exploration camp is for 9 and up. Registration for summer camps opens March 1.  With registration questions, please contact esmith@tylerartschool.com
